3 Guessing Games for NVC Beginners

When you're teaching newbies the basics of NVC using GROK products, there are three super quick, super fun GAMES that work great with all ages.

  • Charades: A volunteer holds a Feelings card on their forehead without seeing it, and the group acts it out until they guess the feeling. It’s a blast watching everyone cheer each other on!
  • "I feel this way when...": Use this game to explore feelings. For example, someone might say, "I feel this way when my husband forgets to pay the bill." As guesses roll in (like anger, frustration, etc.), participants learn the range of emotions tied to different situations.
  • "This need might be met for me when...": This game focuses on needs. For instance, with a Creativity card, participants might say, "This need is met for me when I’m knitting at night," or "when I come up with a great project idea." It's a fun way to see how different activities fulfill our needs.

These GROK games are not only speedy and fun, but they also make great transition activities — perfect for kicking things off after a break or when you need a pick-me-up to boost the energy in the room.

Try these games using KidsGROK/ClassroomGROK cards or with our signature GROK cards shown here.

The beauty of these games is the stealthy LEARNING that happens around expanding vocabulary and understanding the many ways people connect to their needs and feelings.

You’d be surprised at how many insights naturally emerge… and of course it’s great when the whole room is laughing and engaged.

Watch this video explaining these games in a bit more detail. This video features a young demonstrator, but we mostly used these games with adults!

Add these GROK games to your workshops to INCREASE ENGAGEMENT and bring some FUN into NVC!
