This morning as I was drinking my tea, my son reached for the tea bag dangling out of my mug. It was then I noticed the following words on the teabag which gave me a chuckle:
Aspire to inspire before you expire
Oooph, what a tall order. And the caffeine hadn’t even hit me yet.
As I was musing over this saying with my mom (Christine), we decided, with Mary, we’d compile a few quotes to inspire us in 2023.
Christine
"It is not my experience that we are here to fix the world, that we are here to change anything at all. I think we are here so the world can change us. And if part of that change is that the suffering of the world moves us to compassion, to awareness, to sympathy, to love, that is a very good thing."
- Cheri Huber
"What’s in the way is the way."
– Mary O’Malley
Let’s play “What will make life more wonderful!”
Rules to play by:
1. Do everything willingly
2. Don’t tell a person what they are; don’t hear when another person says what I am
3. No punishment, rewards, guilt inducement, shame inducement, or concepts of duty or obligation
- Marshall Rosenberg
"It's not about how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts.
"
- Mother Teresa
Claire’s Quotes
“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.”
― Audrey Hepburn
"Helping, fixing and serving represent three different ways of seeing life. When you help, you see life as weak. When you fix, you see life as broken. When you serve, you see life as whole. Fixing and helping may be the work of the ego, and service the work of the soul."
-Rachel Naomi Remen
"The mind is responsible for its own happiness and its own suffering. So whenever the mind is suffering, or whenever the mind is happy, investigate: What is it in the mind that has brought about the current condition?"
-Tejaniya
Mary’s Quotes
“Rest isn’t earned. Having space to breathe and recharge is a human need, not a reward."
-The Center for Cultural Power
“Notice your thoughts. Track your thoughts. But don’t necessarily believe them.”
-Kristin Masters
“Either we spend time meeting children’s emotional needs by filling their cup with love or we deal with the behaviors caused from their unmet needs. Either way, we spend the time.”
-Pamela Leo
